San Jose, CA – October 23, 2015 — Get into the holiday spirit with History San José at the Children’s Heritage Holiday Festival Saturday on December 5 from 11:00am to 3:00pm at History Park.
Visitors will enjoy holiday arts and crafts, rides on a horse-drawn carriage and the historic trolley, pictures with Santa, and much more! History Park affiliate organizations will also host culturally diverse crafts celebrating the holiday season throughout the world.
The History San José Decadent Desserts Member Appreciation Reception will also be held on Saturday, December 5 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Members of History San José will enjoy a scrumptious display of holiday treats, champagne, and socializing in the Renzel Room of the Pacific Hotel.
That same day, History San José will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the collapse of San Jose’s famed electric light tower. Originally constructed in 1881, the light tower became a nationally known landmark and was a symbol of progress and ingenuity for San Jose. Sadly, the tower collapsed on December 3, 1915. A replica of the tower was constructed for History Park in 1977 and still stands at today. We will honor the original tower with hands-on activities that highlight its remarkable history of this landmark.
Admission: HSJ members are free with a membership card. Children ages 2 and under are free. All others are $5.
