History San José presents the Time Travelers Summer Camp: a two-week long experience where 8–12-year-old campers get hands-on experiences to explore the past. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
Enroll your young adventurer to become a Time Traveler in Training. What were toys like in the 1850s? What sort of jobs did people have before computers? How did people dress, make art, and have fun in the past? Our chrononaut agents will learn everything they need to know to visit eight distinct time periods after our immersive crash course. This year, we’ll be thinking about how our current time period changes how we envision the past and future, and campers will build their very own exhibit to show friends and family on the last day of camp.

Campers from the Same Household
Sibling discounts are available for additional campers if all prospective campers are the correct age. To receive your sibling discount, please purchase registration for one child at regular price and look for the sibling discount for additional campers in your confirmation email. For the discount to be valid, at least one slot must be purchased at regular price and siblings must reside in the same household, be paid for by the same adult, and share the same emergency contact information.
Scholarships
If cost is a barrier to your child’s participation, we are happy to provide 5 scholarships. To apply for our scholarship, prospective campers should answer the following questions:
- Why do you want to attend camp?
- What time period would you most want to visit and why?
- Why is learning history important?

Children attend camps independently without parents or guardians and should be comfortable in group settings. Drop-off for camps will take place between 8:45 am to 9:00 am and pick-up is between 1:50 pm and 2:00 pm. All children must be picked up by 2:15 pm.
Early drop-offs or late pick-ups are not permitted. Every camper must sign in (and out) with a camp instructor each day, and a valid form of ID must be presented upon request of the camp instructor. If a person needs to pick up their camper(s) early, please call the education office ahead of time so that we can arrange (408) 918-1040.

All campers will be checked-in/checked-out at the 1650 Senter Rd Gate. There is a parking lot here that is shared by History San José and the Japanese Friendship Garden. Please arrive 10-minutes before drop-off and pick-up. If you arrive late to summer camp, you will need to bring your camper(s) to the Education Office located on the 2nd floor of the Pacific Hotel inside History Park.

Guardians will be charged $25 for every additional 15 minutes past 2:15 p.m., and $75 for every 15 minutes past 2:45 p.m. No HSJ staff are present past 4:00 pm. The card you used to pay for registration will be kept on file to pay late fees automatically. If you incur a late fee and would like to use a different card, please call the education department (408.918.1040) before 8:00 am the following day.

All campers should bring a backpack with the following:
- Refillable water bottle
- 1 Lunch (refrigerator and microwaves are not available)
- Sunscreen
- Extra pair of clothes for emergencies
There are a lot of great outdoor activities so students should wear closed-toe shoes and a hat/sunglasses.

Guardians will pay for their camper(s) registration via our website. After payment is completed, guardians will be sent a registration questionnaire and emergency forms. Campers from the same household may be entered on the same questionnaire. Once you receive confirmation from the questionnaire, consider your camper(s) fully registered. Emergency forms are due no later than the first day of camp.
