Homeland & Home: The Immigrant Experience – 22nd February 2015

San José, CA – January 30, 2015 — More than one-third of Santa Clara County residents were born outside of the United States, resulting in the co-existence of many cultures, languages, and experiences in the Valley. History San José is proud to partner with Silicon Valley Reads on Sunday February 22 from 12pm-4pm to offer family activities pertaining to The Immigrant Experience theme.

History San José values history and believes that by celebrating it we can create a community with a strong sense of place that respects cultural diversity and innovation.

This special day of hands-on activities with Silicon Valley Reads will include a scavenger hunt through History Park featuring immigrant experiences both past and present, and crafts focusing on the diverse cultures represented at History Park. Several affiliate organizations will also be on hand, offering activities including a poetry workshop conducted by Poetry Center San Jose, a printing demonstration by the Printers Guild, and films created by the Digital Clubhouse Network.

As always, we will offer historic trolley rides, and O’Brien’s Candy Store & Ice Cream Parlor will be open for business.

Admission to History Park and all activities are free.
