San Jose, CA — May 15, 2015 — History San José is proud to announce the first ever San Jose Mini Maker Faire on Sunday, September 6 from 10 am to 6 pm.
What is a Maker Faire? For those who have not attended the Bay Area Maker Faire in San Mateo – Maker Faire is the “Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth” that showcases makers, artists, inventors, tinkerers, builders, and many more innovative and creative individuals.
“The 1st Annual San Jose Mini Maker Faire at History Park will highlight more than 70 talented artists and Makers right here in our community,” says Alida Bray, President & CEO of History San José. “Makers built this Valley! Each Maker Faire has its own identity, and ours will feature the history of “making” and include makers you may not see at other fairs like blacksmiths and saddle makers, but robots will have equal opportunity, too!”
The global Maker Faire network created by MAKE magazine now encompasses Faires in over 120 cities around the world. This family-friendly event will inspire creativity in kids of all ages! Some of the Makers we will feature include beekeepers, wood carving, glassblowing, basket weavers, and some incredible performances!
Over the next few months, History San José will work with community partners to recruit local Makers and artists. Our “Call for Makers” application form can be found at: https://makerfairesanjose.com/.
