Celebrate Earth Day & Arbor Day

History San José’s Family Days Series

Cleanup of Kelley Park:  partnering with Bright Green San Jose, the public is invited to participate beginning at 9 AM. The clean-up is for adults and children ages 10 and up. Park clean-up registration begins at 9 AM at the Phelan Avenue entrance to HistoryPark. There is no charge for the park clean-up, and everyone is invited.

Family Fun:  a”crafty” Caterpillar Walk will include activities and crafts for children, including making flower pots, planting ‘birdhouse’ gourd seeds and demonstrations by Our City Forest and Start Organic.

Archaeology Dig: will be hosted by Stanford Archaeology Department Students. Participate in a mock excavation and uncover a part of San José’s past, and children can earn a Junior Archaeology Certificate. 11 AM to 3 PM

Peaceful Planet Show by Linda Tringali: a family concert will be at 2:00 PM in The Plaza.Tringali

And the usual History Park favorites:  ride a historic trolley and a handcar; visit historic homes & buildings.

  • Youth      Art Month Exhibit in the Leonard & David McKay Gallery

Food will be available for purchase 11 AM – 4 PM: Larry’s Hot dogs, Treat Ice Cream in O’Brien’s Ice Cream Parlor and Tony’s Popcorn Cart.

HistoryPark is in Kelley Park at 1650 Senter Road.
Enter at the Phelan Street Gate (for GPS use 635 Phelan Ave)
City Parking available for $6; Admission $5 per person, and free for HSJ members.
