Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild Workshop

November 8, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Admission: $65/GBACG & HSJ members $80/non-members (see link to tickets below)

Deadline for sign-up is 11:59pm, November 1st, 2015 MST.

18th-century-hair-lecture_pic1Take a modern wig and turn it into a fashionable high woman’s style of the 1770s (modernly called a “pouf” — think Marie Antoinette with a ship on her head)! This hands-on class will cover making a high frame, and then styling the wig. Allergy note: we’ll be using a LOT of aerosol hairspray.

Instructor Bio: Kendra Van Cleave has been creating and studying historic costumes for nearly 20 years (although we won’t talk about those early mishaps). She also is a fashion historian, specializing in the 18th Century. She has recently published a book on 18th Century Hair & Wig styling. Kendra maintains a costume website, Demode, where she presents her research and projects. Kendra can be reached at kendra@demodecouture.com.
