 Program Interpreter

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under moderate supervision, prepare and present interactive programs and tours to school groups (primarily 2nd - 6th grade), tour groups and the general public, at two locations, History Park (in Kelley Park) and the Peralta Adobe - Fallon House Historic Site in downtown San Jose.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalency certificate, some college, and two years working experience, preferably working with students; theater, public speaking and/or teaching experience highly preferred. General knowledge of and/or interest in history, particularly of California and the Santa Clara Valley.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, and SKILLS
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and interest in working with volunteers. Reliable and dependable "people person." Ability to demonstrate physical activities and lift up to 20 pounds. Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to provide an atmosphere that reinforces a positive environment for the students. Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural community and work environment. Fluency in one or more non-English language appropriate to the population of the Santa Clara Valley is highly desired, especially Spanish or Vietnamese. However, this is not a job for translators. Must love working outdoors.

Salary: $11.00 per hour; 8-24 hours per week; weekday mornings: Tuesday - Friday.
