Westward Ho!

History Park (in Kelley Park)

Westward Ho! is fully scheduled for the 2007/2007 school year.  If you like to be placed on the Waiting List please complete the online registration now and we will contact you if a date become available.

GRADE 5
STANDARDS: SS 5.8.1, 5.8.2, 5.8.4; LA Reading 2.1; Listening & Speaking 1.1, 1.2, 1.3; Science 4C

Students form wagon companies to traverse the famous Overland Trail. They plot their routes West on a map and strategize for the perils of this rough trip. They will purchase a wagon and load it with supplies for survival. At the resting-up camp, they churn butter, make pioneer sweets and see who is best at rolling hoops. Feel free to bring your own camera to take pictures of students in costume or purchase a disposable camera from us.

Time: Tuesdays and Fridays
9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Group Size: 20 minimum, 35 maximum
Cost: $200 minimum; $10 per student
Chaperones: Minimum 5 chaperones required, maximum of 8. Chaperones must attend to facilitate activities.
